Differences that matter

Running cost

Ring shows live video and alerts for free, but saving recordings needs Ring Solo (£4.99 a month or £49.99 a year). Over three years that is about £150 on top of the £79.99 doorbell — roughly £230 in total. The eufy E340 (£169.99 when checked) stores recordings on 8 GB of built-in storage with no monthly fee.

Cameras

Ring uses one 2K camera with a square 140° × 140° view. The eufy E340 adds a second, downward-facing camera for the area in front of the door, where parcels are usually left.

Power and chime

Both run on batteries and can be wired to an existing doorbell transformer to ring your current chime. Ring's battery is built in (USB-C); the eufy pack is quick-release and, in wired mode, keeps the doorbell working during a power cut.

Wi-Fi and smart home

Both are 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. eufy lists Alexa and Google Assistant support (not Apple Home); Ring's product page does not list voice assistants.
